  • Important Info

Paper Faced/Plastic Film Faced mosaics have a covering of paper or film on the front surface rather than mesh backing. Some individual pieces are clear/translucent so any mesh backingwould show through after installation to spoil the overall look. Use a white, rapid setting, cement based flexible adhesive. Because the film or paper facing is on the front of these mosaics itis difficult to see what they look like. Peel back part of the paper or plastic face on one tile BEFORE fixing to ensure the surface finish is what you expected.

Plastic film faced mosaics should be adhered in the same way as other mosaics, but with the film facing outwards. Leave the adhesive for at least 24 hours to allow it to completely set and drybefore peeling off the film. If it’s necessary to make slight adjustments to straighten the mosaics before the adhesive sets, then cut the film carefully with a sharp knife. If the small pieces of mosaic comeoff when removing the plastic film it means that the adhesive has not been left long enough to dry. Use a sharp knife and cut small slits in the film to allow more air to the adhesive to speed up theprocess. When the adhesive is dry, remove the film by peeling it from one corner to the opposite corner.

Some mosaic sheets may have a protective film covering either the whole surface or certain individual pieces. Keep the film in place during installation then carefully peel away. It is important to factor intime needed to peel off the film from some of those with film on individual pieces

Some mosaics may have chipped edges. This is an inherent part of these tiles and add to the rustic effect
